Taormina is a charming hillside town on the east coast of Sicily, Italy and is one of the island's main tourist resorts. Taormina is a very small town in eastern Sicily with a population of 10,000.
For tourism, Taormina excels in amazing sightseeing and beautiful walkways.
There are a tone of well-kept gardens and nature sights to visit here.
Currently, Taormina is a popular destination for tourists due to not only the
amazing sights, but the nice beaches too. Taormina is also one of the homes of
ancient architecture, and has a lot of history to be found.
HISTORY
Ancient
History
Around the years 800-700 BC,
Taormina was inhabited by the Siculi people. At the time, this area was
prospering.
Middle Ages
Taormina was part of the Roman Empire, but after the fall of the Romans, it
was taken by the Arabs in year 902. The siege lasted 2 years. Then in 1078,
Taormina was captured by the Normans. There were even more conflicts later on,
involving different countries.

Isola
Bella
Isola Bella is a nature reserve just south of Taormina. It is a very small
island acting like a beach.
Giardini
Naxos
Giardini Naxos is a very popular seaside resort; it is an attraction on its own
due to the sunset views, hill views, and style of the area.
Mount
Etna
Mount Etna located on the east coast of Sicily is an active stratovolcano. It
is the tallest volcano on the continent and it is one of the three active
volcanoes in Italy. It is also one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
Blue
Grotto
The Blue Grotto is a cave that has very blue lighting inside. The blue lighting
inside this cave is due to the sunlight shining through the seawater.
Palazzo
Corvaia
Palazzo Corvaia is a palace built in the 14th century. The
name comes from the owning family, which lost ownership in 1945.
Ferrovia
Cirumetnea
The Ferrovia Cirumetnea is a railway line. This railway line was
created in 1895.
FOOD CULTURE
-Breakfast likely includes cookies, small cakes,
pastries, biscotti, and croissants.
-Very common in all of Italy for people to have coffee in the morning.
-Very uncommon for people to have coffee any later than lunch.
-Eggs are usually boiled, rarely fried or scrambled. Eggs are also eaten later
